AcroMetrix recently announced a product designed to help labs provide more accurate test results
Hepatitis B and C is believed to be the cause of more than 75% of the world’s known cases of liver disease, which makes diagnosis and treatment so important.
HCV patients are routinely monitored to detect changes in the amount of virus (viral load) present in their bodies while they’re undergoing disease treatment. Physicians rely on the accuracy of the viral load test results provided to them by the laboratories in order to make better informed decisions when it comes to drug therapies for the patient.
AcroMetrix recently announced a product designed to help labs provide more accurate test results – it’s called The OptiQuant-S HCV RNA Qualification Panel. This panel employs AcroMetrix’s proprietary technology, SynTuraâ„¢, which gives laboratories a much needed component to optimize Hepatitis C molecular assays available in today’s market.
What makes SynTuraâ„¢ so unique is that it involves a second generation viral RNA material that acts much like enveloped mammalian RNA viruses such as HCV or HIV. This new technology facilitates synthetic sequences to be inserted into mammalian RNA virus that are shown to be stable in replication and able to form infectious RNase resistant virus particles. This proprietary system is useful in the designing of defined RNA positive controls, quantification standards, internal controls and calibrators.
President and CEO of Acrometrix, Michael J. Eck, said, “OptiQuant-S HCV represents our continued commitment to Hepatitis C diagnostic testing. Medical laboratories utilizing the new OptiQuant-S HCV Panel will experience the benefits of a standardized product that offers consistent results with an enhanced dynamic range; and as a result reducing patient re-testing requirements and increasing savings in both labor and reagent costs.”
AcroMetrix is a leading producer of molecular products and operates two facilities, one in Benicia, California and the other in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. You can find out more about OptiQuant-S HCV RNA Qualification Panel and AcroMetrix by visiting their website at www.acrometrix.com.
